The collection consists around 90 paintings and over 180 drawings. In the special Van Gogh Gallery you can see about 40 works of Van Gogh, in changing setups. You can not only view Van Gogh in the Kröller-Müller Museum, you can also see amazing pieces by modern masters like Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso, and Piet Mondriaan. The museum is located in the middle of the National Park De Hoge Veluwe, and gives a unique combination of art, nature, and architecture. The museum also has a beautiful sculpture garden. This is one of Europe’s largest sculpture gardens. You can find around 160 sculptures of iconic artists, from Aristide Maillol to Jean Dubuffet, from Marta Pan to Pierre Huyghe.
The Kröller-Müller Museum is the lifework of Helene Kröller-Müller (1869 – 1939). Between 1907 and 1922 she and her husband Anton Kröller bought almost 11.500 artworks. This makes her collection one of the largest private collections of the 20th century. Helene dreamt of her own ‘museumhouse’. In this house, she would be able to share her love for modern art with everybody. Her dream became reality when the Kröller-Müller Museum opens his doors in 1938. The design for the building comes from the Belgian architect Henry van de Velde. Another wing was added to the building in the 1970s, this was designed by the Dutch architect Wim Quist.
The mission of MuseumTV is to introduce art and culture to the biggest audience possible. We do this on our joint video on demand platform for Dutch museums. Through our partners we bring the platform to the attention of the Dutch public actively.
