Louwman Museum

History and collection

The Louwman Museum possesses the oldest private collection automobiles in the world. It was put together by two generations of the Louwman family. The base for the collection was made in 1934, and now includes over 250 antique and classic cars. Experts view the collection as one of the most beautiful in the world. The base of the museum is built on the passion for cars, and the museum exudes this passion. Every car in the museum has its own story, and therefore contributes in its own way to the museum and its history.

Building and surroundings

The collection is located in a specifically for the museum built building in The Hague. The Hague is the city where P. W. Louwman started selling Dodge and Chrysler cars in the Netherlands. He was the first to start selling these car brands. The museum building is designed by the American architect Michael Graves, and is inspired by the historical surroundings. The landscaping, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, is also in harmony with the design of the building.

The mission of MuseumTV is to introduce art and culture to the biggest audience possible. We do this on our joint video on demand platform for Dutch museums. Through our partners we bring the platform to the attention of the Dutch public actively.
